July 2024
the third one

we even had sunshine
After two years of challenging English summer weather, this time we were ready with our big red top to bring colour and shelter for whatever the weather gods threw at us. And, always learning and growing, we gave you more music – opening on Friday night with a great DJ set of soulful house from Bobby and Steve. A blistering set from boogie-woogie king, Ben Waters, followed. The big top rocked as the wind raged outside. If you were there, you know the magic that happened.
And on Saturday, the sun came out and brought those happy festival vibes. We opened with a bang as local children showed off their new samba drumming skills learnt in school, thanks to one of our Brazilian musicians and the generosity of Sandroyd Prep School.

It was a day for sharing and taking part. Some joined the community choir from scratch who performed a joyful acapella mix of global, soul and gospel songs learnt at lightning speed. Others had a quiet moment of reflection on world peace, with words and music from across the faiths, led by the Revd Kate McFarlane and cellist Emily Burridge.
There was a final gathering of music lovers around the fire pits as the night drew to a close, playing and singing together – young, not so young, professional performers and festival goers alike.
And on stage it was a day of memorable moments – from the extraordinary music of our Colombian DJ band to harmonious acoustic folk-roots, from Swedish banjo punk to Welsh-Nigerian R&B.
